Synergize

Curricula

By applying the ADDIE model, Bloom's Taxonomy, and effective visual design principles, I create projects that holistically integrate Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives. This approach helps establish a strong foundational learning experience and enhances engagement levels among learners.

I have developed both synchronous and asynchronous training programs facilitated by experienced transit instructors. Collaborating with stakeholders and subject matter experts (SMEs), I focused on identifying key objectives for both new and current operators. Additionally, I conducted "train the trainer" programs and evaluation feedback sessions to gather insights from both students and trainers. Given the policy and procedure-intensive nature of transit operations, I aimed to foster emotional intelligence, promote habitual positive behaviors, and emphasize personal health and wellness throughout the training process.

Mindfullness

Program Overview: Continuing Education is a mandatory four-hour practical program for all bus operators, designed to enhance their skills and knowledge. The curriculum is developed based on data and performance metrics from the previous year. To effectively balance the enforcement of policies and procedures, the program incorporates a holistic perspective that connects these concepts to work performance, thereby increasing engagement among operators. This approach emphasizes mindfulness while driving and prioritizing customer service.

Each year, the curriculum is thoroughly evaluated, revised, and updated to ensure its relevance and effectiveness.

Leadership Development

Objective: To enhance and modernize the leadership training program by incorporating essential soft skills, including Myers-Briggs personality assessment, DEI principles, and customer service excellence.

Metro selects a limited number of Bus Operators for an intensive 6-month leadership development program, structured into four key components:

  1. Transit Communications Control

  2. Base Operations

  3. Training Operations

  4. Service Quality

Tools Utilized: Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Photoshop is leveraged to support the development and delivery of training materials.

Equipment Requirement Courses

Objective: Update and revamp the trolley operation class.

I developed a two day course focusing on the hardware and workflow of efficient operation. This included new battery enhanced vehicles, which allows the trolley poles to be lowered in order to bypass obstructions.

Tools Utilized: Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop,

Onboarding

Objective: Update the onboarding, CDL prep program.

I developed a required 33 day program to cover onboarding, CDL requirements, Operators policy and procedures, technical skills and interpersonal development.

Tools Utilized: Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop

Diversity and Inclusion

Objective: Create an annual required training for all operators. Include the topics from risk management from the prior year.

I developed a 2 hour program to cover risk management topics such has high accident or injury data and integrated DEI into the program that emphasized customer communication, unconscious bias, interpersonal health and development.

New Employee Resource Guide

Challenge: The onboarding process was inefficient and outdated, with managers relying on scattered PowerPoints and sending new employees a Word document checklist, resulting in a lack of consistency.

Solution: I developed two streamlined resources tailored for interns, new hires, and transferred employees. The New Employee Guide consolidates all essential information into a single, comprehensive document.

Additionally, I redesigned an interactive PowerPoint presentation to enhance employee engagement, in line with company policy to retain the PPT format.

Tools used: Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft PowerPoint.

New Internship and Early Career Mentoring Guide

Objective: Create a clear resource which both mentors and mentees could utilize and fill out during their meetings.

I developed a fillable PDF for new mentors and inters that will walk them step by step into the mentorship program.

Tools used: Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop

 Evaluations

Prior to implementing a Learning Management System (LMS), I utilized SurveyMonkey to conduct evaluations for our development courses, effectively transitioning from traditional pen-and-paper assessments to a more efficient, data-driven process.

SharePoint Administration

Leveraging my coding background, I volunteered to develop a SharePoint site for Training Operations and BGS Engineering, streamlining access to onboarding and operational resources.

I designed the site’s layout, including calendars and tile-based navigation, and managed site permissions, drawing on my experience as an Information Security Analyst. After creating permission groups and organizing folders, I launched the site and provided training to the L&D team, empowering them to manage site administration.

For BGS Engineering, the site became a centralized hub for onboarding, which was later used as a template across other departments.
